Heritage Album

New Opeth album "Heritage", what are your thoughts? Granted it wont be officially released till the 20th, what are your thoughts on it? There is no Death Metal-esq growls on this album, like in Damnation. Personally, I love it. Especially "Häxprocess" and "I Feel the Dark" and I think they really develop periodically into something amazing. I do miss the Scandinavian Death Metal vocals, but overall it is quite good, and I can't wait to see them live on the 25th. Will you be picking up a copy of the album, or plan to see them?

Opeth's "Heritage" album: retro-wankery or new life for an old band? "Heritage" hasn't even been out a week in the USA, and it seems to have already drawn lines in the sand, with some feeling it's a boring sellout (mostly due to its utter lack of metal elements) whilst others seem to find it to pack an energy that was largely missing from "Watershed", and maybe. Opeth growing in aa new direction. Honestly I have never been a huge Opeth fan per se, but I feel that their previous 2 albums were..lacking. this album seems more...honest, for lack of a better term. When discussing the making of it, Mike says he wrote a bunch of Metal demos, and he and Mendez just weren't feeling them. This is the music he was "feeling". Personally, I think Folklore and Famine are some of the best tracks they have ever wsritten. They have a darkness lacking in Prog since Comus and Shivering were on the scene in the late 60s/early 70s. Yet, it still feels modern, not like some retro wankery IMO. MQ: your thoughts? Any idea where i can find a d ring 12 x 12 scrapbook album/box that is at least 3 inches thick? My mom is doing heritage scrapbook albums for my aunt ( 5 of them one for each of her kids) and is looking for a strong and sturdy d-ring 12 x 12 scrapbook album or box if any one has any suggestions we would really appreiciate it because we can't seem to find anything that will work.

How can I price an old stamp album? I just received 2 stamp albums from my grandfather, and one dates back to 1930 in one album, and the other goes into the 1800s. Is there a way to actually put a price on these and sell them for a fair price? Should I just look at every stamp and research it's price? The name of the albums are "The Heritage Collections" and the stamps are mainly U.S. Commemorative Stamps. Any advice?

Metal or "Not-Metal": OPETH's "Damnation" album? Opeth... Death Metal, Progressive Metal, Extreme Metal, whatever. Arguably one of the more respected/overrated bands in Metal, depending on whom you ask. Then out of nowhere, comes their Damnation album, a soft, mid tempo album with nary a double kick or death growl to be found. Yet, funnily enough, still many fans will rabidly assert it's a Metal album, as if admitting it's a Prog Rock album somehow diminishes the Band and the album. (Because apparently Metal is synonymous with "greatness" whilst "non-metal" equals "sub-par" and inferior, at least for some people) Still, I challenge anyone to listen to "Death Whispered a Lullabye" or "In my time of need" (or any track) and tell me how it's Metal. ..and for the record, Damnation is hands down my fave Opeth album... but it ain't Metal. American heritage music... I need albums or songs. Greensleeves and music like it.? Heritage, and facial structure? I was told I'm mainly Norwegian and English. I have a mix of other things too, I'm not sure what. How un-safe for children and teenagers are blog internet sites like bebo and myspace? I was doing a heritage search on my surname for some family tree stuff and accidentally ran across a profile on bebo for my 16 year old niece - her full name, photo and town of residence is posted right on the front page. Most of is seems innocent enough, although quite immature like typical teenagers are. She has some photos in her album with self-captions that say 'slutty' referring to pics of teenage boys sitting or lying on top of her (fully clothed). I was shocked to say the least, and I'm certainly no prude. This all may seem modern to some people, but I can't imagine my brother and sister-in-law would be very happy to see it if they stumbled upon it one day - highly unlikely as neither of them are computer literate at all and hardly search the net for anything. They also have a habit of being oblivious to stuff their kids do. Does anyone else agree that this could be potentially hazardous considering she has her full name, pics and hometown on the net? Blocking the profile for friends only to see is a great idea, but it seems they let on anyone as a 'friend'. There were definitely a few suspect on there that I saw. One in particular is a guy her parents would never want her associating with. He is suicidal and into self-mutilation and drugs. Seems these websites are places for people to do what they want cause they think nobody will ever find out about it.

I want to listen to Opeth but I don't really like Death Metal? I really want to get into Opeth but I know all but two of there albums are mainly progressive death/black metal while the others are two are labeled as progressive rock/progressive metal which are Damnation and their new album which features a departure from their usual sound, Heritage. American heritage music and music like it... I need some. Greensleeves and the like.? I'm looking for an album that has songs including or similar to greensleeves, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Shenandoah, Old Man River(I know it's not actually in this category, but it sounds like it should be), When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again, Big Rock Candy Mountain, etc. If anybody knows the name of any albums or has a recommendation for other songs which might fit I'd appreciate it.
