How to trace your family tree for free? I'm really interested in finding out about my ancestors and relatives who lived before me and I know about a bunch of family tree tracing sites, but you have to pay. Do you know of any websites that let you trace your family for free and(if possible) without a download? Thanks so much!
How do I trace my family tree? In many cases, researchers need to know the name of an ancestor in the 1800s or that crossed over to america or something. I can't do it that way. I need to be able to trace my tree from recent names. I know my great grandmother and great grandfather's names, and all the ones that came after them, but I don't know how to go back any further. How can I research my family tree using what I know, and somewhat recent records?
How to trace my family tree? I've tried to trace it online, however, all I've found is that my family originates from Suffolk, England. Well, I already knew that, so, is there a way to trace my tree even further back than that? Since my surname only goes back a few hundred years it's quite difficult. Would it require some sort of genealogy/DNA test? Thanks.
How do I trace my family tree if my dad is adopted? My dad was adopted when he was a kid and Im not sure if he knows anything really about his bio parents and such. I really would like to one day trace the family tree to see if anything interesting shows up. I know if I had a professional genealogy person do it, it would be pricey. Any help from someone who knows about this? Oh and I live in Ohio & do not have my dads number and he lives 3 hrs away, so getting info would be kinda hard.

Do you think it's possible to trace your family tree all the way back to Charlemagne? My cousin is the family historian and he claims to have traced the family back to one of the wives of Henry VIII, King Alfred the Great and Charlemagne. I understand that if your a member of royalty you can trace your family back centuries. But, we are not. So, even though I accept Charlemagne and the rest would have thousands of descendants I don't think it would be possible even for royalty to go back that far. There surely wouldn't be any existing records left.
How can I trace my family tree as cheap as possible? I've wanted to do it for a long time, but it seems to be pretty expensvie the further back you go. I've always been told we have Russian royalty in our family way back so I'm curious to know if what I've been told has a ring of real truth. Not to be able to claim anything but just to actually find out. My family were Russian/Polish jews so may not be able to get far. Who can point me in the right direction of a good website. Thanks
How do I trace my family tree in Denmark? I'm feeling really strange right now. I've always considered myself Celtic/British, but I recently found out (much to my surprise!) that my mother's Grandparents were Danish, and that my father's Grandma was Danish also! As far as I knew my entire family was Irish/Scottish, but this would explain why I've been told I look decidedly "Scandinavian" rather than typically "British". Does anyone know of any good websites in English where I can track down my Danish roots?
How to trace family tree for free? My mum is from Langholm (Dumfries) in Scotland and wants to trace her family tree. Is there a way of doing it easily and free of charge? Also does anyone know anything about the history of the Musgrave/Hughes family from Langholm or could help? (a few names for reference - Margaret Musgrave (my mum who was born 4/5/34), Helen Musgrave, Thomas Edward Musgrave, Thomas Hughes, James Hughes). Many thanks if you can - it would make her year!
Does anyone know how you can trace your family tree when relatives have been born abroad? My Mum was born in India & my Granny's death was registered there too - we have my Mums birth certificate but cant trace granny's death (grandad died a long time ago so cant ask him, likewise all of granny's other relatives who knew her) - Im trying to trace both granny's death certificate & the birth/death/marriage certificates of other relatives in India. The problem seems to be that Mum was born & granny died (& all the other births/marriages/deaths happened in the 1940's when control of India was being handed back to the people of India & both the British & Indian authorities kept completely different records, neither of which we can find as the people involved weren't in the British military. Any help would be greatly appreciated - Mum's been trying to do this for years but doesnt know where to start so I thought I'd try to help.
