What is the best online family tree maker? I want to make a family tree on my computer. Microsoft Office did not work too well for me and I would like to know a better alternative. I would like to know the best free family tree maker online or downloadable. I want to make a vertical family tree.

how do I turn my family tree saved files from family tree maker to a gedcom file? My family tree maker has asked me after every 100 people I add to my family tree if I want to share my tree online. I want to add a family tree to rootsweb but I don't know how to make a GEDCOM file to upload it. Problem with family tree maker descendant and register reports..? I have inputted 13 generations of family into family tree maker. When I select a descendant chart or register report the maximun number of generations I can view is 5 to 6. I have no problems with the other family trees.
A problem with relationship link on Family Tree Maker 2005? I seem to have a problem with FTM 2005, which i cannot understand. When i use the Relationship calculator, it seems to find no relationship with my and my paternal male ancestors, giving a result of "no relationship". However, i cannot understand why. It works with the relationship between me and my dad, and me and my paternal grandfather, but any higher than this, and it finds no relationship, despite all data appearing to be correct, all marriages correct, etc. Can anyone explain why?

She has laptop, I have desktop both do family search. she can use all functions but I am blocked using the green leaf merge feature. How do we set our PCs so both can use all search features? Family Tree Maker 2008 show's no generations? I am using FTM 08 for a family tree that has over 184 surnames. The program says that I have NO Generations. If I click on my father-in-law it says that Im not related to him. If I click on my Grandmother, it says the same thing?? Is this problem fixable? I just looked and I have no copies of people.

Has anyone checked out Family Tree Maker 2009? I'm a report hound, and FTM 2008 was considered a step backward, for which they were soundly criticized. Family Tree Maker V16 - Correcting entry on Parental Relationship? I have listed my relative in the program and when I am looking in the parentage report (relationship of child), there are some that shows "step" and "family member" instead of "natural". how do i correct this because those persons should be listed as "natural" and not as step child or something?

Hi, My sister recovered her Family Tree Maker files from a doomed harddrive.. she was using a software from gspsoftware.co.uk (I think) since I found the files on her disc to have the *.gft extension Now I bought her the software called Family Tree Maker 2006 but this can't read her files ! Family Tree Maker 2005? Why when i select a Genealogy report why does it only give limited information, ie. only one address, no job description etc. You spend hours researching & adding data of your ancesters, ie. maybe six addresses, five jobs, plus other information etc . only to be let down like this, it's very annoying, is it my mistake or is it Family Tree Maker. family tree maker 2006 loses data & sometimes 'cannot be found' - how do I fix the problems? I had copied the file/program to CD so that I would have a backup and I think it was after that that I first encountered the problem. I wasted 4 hours adding new info only to find that it was not there next time I opened the program. It is a genuine program which I personally purchased.

I want to find a seminar on how to use Family Tree Maker in the Chicago area.? I have data in my program but do not know how to do a lot of the reports, books, etc. and find it confusing with the directions from the software. A Family Tree Maker which plots your ENTIRE FAMILY and ALL RELATIVES in the ONE TREE? I'm conducting genealogical research. I've got a fair bit of data stored in GEDCOM files. I want a program, or website, that will plot absolutely everybody in the one one tree. Brothers, sisters, cousins, distant cousins, uncles, people only related by marriage, etc. I basically want to create a massive tree with all my available information. (even if it's text based, that's ok too) Most programs, like Family Tree Maker 2008, only allow you to show your ascendants (ie, not showing my cousins), or the descendants from a particular person (ie, not showing that person's siblings - if the parents are unknown). Please help. Thank you

family tree maker file transfer?HELP!? i am helping my grandmother move files from her windows 98 to her new dell that has windows vista. she has family tree maker on both computers and all she wants me to move are those files. i know how to upload the files on to the internet so i can download them on the computer, but the windows98 saves them as FBC and that is a backup for a disc oprtating system, and i need to know how to change that to a FBW (file backup for WINDOWS).. please help!
