1. Hi If you don't have the financial resources to develop your own line then this is my best advice. You need to start to develop a rep within the industry and get some attention. One easy way to begin this is to apply to be a designer for an online scrapbook site. There are a ton of them and it seems like someone is always looking for new designers. The "pay" is nothing but as long as you can get publicity, it may be worth it. Or you can simply start regularly posting layouts on the zillions of scrapsites and develop a following. If you are talking about an actual product then you can start networking and getting yourself into the trade shows like CHA or Memory Trends. Good luck! I have several friends who are designers and all of them started just because they loved to create.
