- Go to a craft shop and buy lots of ribbons, differnet coloured card and stuff like that and just make it personal to you. As long as you feel it's a good scrapbook, it won't matter what other people think...
- You can use pictures and letters from magazines, stickers, photos and stationery papers. Use nice markers and templates for different fonts, unless you can do calligraphy yourself. Just make it uniquely YOURS. It doesn't have to be perfect, just sentimental and meaningful to the two of you. You can buy teeny little envelopes, and put little messages to each other in them on a page....(I did that) Then, years from now, you'll still be able to read the cute messages..... I also bought 'ephemera' off eBay, which came with tons of 'antique' cut-outs and items. Old postcards, scrabble tiles, old magazine ads and articles, string, fabrics, etc... It was cool to incorporate those things into my scrapbook.
- i use to make one using a kit.. it included scissors glue a temporary camera. the one that you can only snap 30 pics and then throw a book and some confetti i think when making a scrap book trtand include as much pictures and ´nice ´words in in try to write memories like date, place, etc, etc and most of all, just be creative with it..remember everything you do is made by you.. and being yourself is the best.. make it your own
- My favorite part about my scrapbook is that it reflects myself. Just start putting stuff together, and I promise it will be awesome. Be creative! That's way better than some cookie cutter scrapbook with 300 others just like it. Oh, my favorite thing to do is make 3-D stickers. Anything works, like a picure you like, a die cut-out, or even a tid-bit like a key. Put double sided 3-D tape on one side, and stick it to a page. Tada!! You might want to buy some scrapbooking mags for ideas. They can be really helpful, just don't be afraid to make it your own.
- I think the easist way to start would be to get a kit! They sell them from 20 to 50 dollars and they include everything for a beginner scrapbooker! If you don't want to do that maybe you should a 12 by 12 scrapbook and same cute papers and stickers (don't try to do everything at once! if you have some pictures you want to scrapbook a wedding, football season, friends, just go with that don't just buy random paper because its cute) and you should go to a scrapbooking store so you can get some tips or even get a class! (most michals have a beginners scrapbooking class) Hope I helped!
- Gather your pictures, choose an album, choose background papers, stickers, pens, etc, etc,... Decide if you want a theme album only, or if you want it in chronological order (date order) For page lay-out suggestions try this link: www.creativememories.com choose your country, then look for a link named (or similar to) IDEA-CENTRE (yes, that's the correct Canadian spelling LOL) Have fun with it and don't forget to leave room for journaling (the writing of your story)
- The best way to get started is by organizing your picture cornilogically, and in events. If your book is 12x12 I would use 3-6 pictures on each page. If it is 81/2x11 then ues 2-4 pictures on each. I usually keep the two pages facing eachother on the same topic. Make a header for each two page spread. One of the most important things is journaling. If you don't like your handwritting the typeand print on the computer. For ideas on layouts got to a craft store (Micheal's or Joann's) and buy and idea book. But keep it simple since you are just starting. Last of all don't be afraid to crop you pictures.
- Just stick a paper on, add photos, stickers, ribbon, etc, do a bit of journaling - date, who, why, where, etc - and glue it all down! Lol - you can buy a how-to book in any craft store. Try http://www.creativememories.com for help, they might have. You can buy a kit, as everyone is suggesting, or go to Target and buy out their $1 section. It's up to you. Just make sure that all your materials are acid/lignin free (it will say it on the packaging) so that it will be preserved. That's why using magazines etc aren't good - but you can scan them and print it out on acid-free paper and stick it in the scrapbook. The possibilities are literally endless. For supplies I recommend your local dollar store or amazing Savings - they have great, cheap stuff, most acid-free. I'm personally more into digital scrapbooking though than traditional. Using a program like Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Corel Paint Shop Pro, Scrapbook Factory Deluxe, etc allows you to make digital pages with digital or scanned photos and print them out. That way there are no mess-ups, smudged clue, creased paper, etc, and you can reuse the same digital paper over and over. Scrapbooking sites even let you download embellishments and papers for free, and you can print them out to use in your regular scrapbook if you want, as well. It's about YOU - it's supposed to be fun. Anything you do will be special, simply because it's about you and your memories.
