Is there a place I can trace my family tree back for FREE?
I have been told I am related to the royal family of Wales, but I can't figure it out and I don't have enough money to pay for sites like Ancestry.com.

- I once tried a 2-week free trial of Ancestry.com but I didn't get very far with it anyway. But if they have a free trial, you may want to take advantage of that. You just have to remember to call and cancel it before the 2 weeks is up. You can start with your local courthouse perhaps.
- http://www.familysearch.org http://www.accessgenealogy.com/ Cyndi's List has a bunch too: http://www.cyndislist.com/ It's a hard thing to do but possible. It took me 2 years online and all I had to start with was my grandmother's name and her parents, I got all the way back to 1535!
- Go to your local library or use their online website and look up books on "Geneology" or "Family Tree". This way you can check out books for free and do all the work you want to do, to get the answers you want.
- The cheapest and fastest way, through your parents. Sometimes grandparents and family photos can be a real help! Also your local library has records of births and such. Birth certificates are a real help too!
- I don't think any of those websites can help you anyway. The last "King of Wales" died in 1170.
