ANYBODY know any GOOD SITES.....?

does anybody know any good sites to make a family tree? i need one that can provide info such as a person's parents names and birth/death date. i am trying to trace my roots back to discover where i came from. the sites must be FREE!! please do not say ancestry.com or genealogy.com!! i have tried these already. i need new sites please. thanks. 10 points to best help.

1. I have heard the Mormons keep excellent records. Haven't used them, but may be worth a try, not sure if it is free.
2. just type it into google or yahoo and see what comes up

4. Have you tried www.familysearch.org ?
5. I don't know, but my uncle is a nut on that sort of stuff. Ask again in Arts & Humanities -> Genealogy Someone will help you - just look at the answers other people have had there.
