I am supposed to design a family tree for a family that died off many years ago, it needs to be free also?
I am only following one line of the family, and have all 12 names, birth dates, marriage dates, and death dates. The house they once lived in has since been turned into a restaurant, and the owners have asked me to make a family tree for this family with all the abouve information. I need a free template, or family tree maker that I could design, and type the names of each family member, does anyone know of such websites?

- use google, and type "family tree" in search... then filter to images. You will get a ton of them. Standard programs are less concerned with visuals than factual (text) info.
- Im looking, if your good as using adobe or such software, look around at images and design one, all scrowl or a tree kinda like this one, thats cute, this one would be easy to draw and improve upon, most sites want to sell you something, so do image search, family tree to get ideas. The second link if your creative, you could use something like this and put in your own images to represent things instead of straight copying this one, its kinda neat though. You could do a search for a coat of arms and then draw the image a site wants to sell you, put any info you know about people in the middle, or if you know nothing but their from say Louisiana, then in the middle put a statement about the state itself would be interesting, use old style scrolly fonts too!
- In almost any book of European history, there should be family trees of the royal families. For that matter, almost any complete Shakespeare will have a family tree of the English royal family at the time of the War of the Roses. Or just go to Yahoo! Images and type in "family tree." You'll see lots of ideas! Just remember that the ones that look like tournament charts are intended to show the ancestry of one person. Now if you're looking for a form that you can download and type the names in online, I don't know whether any of those on YI will allow that, but since you said "design," I'm sure you can make one of your own using what you find online as models.
- This site has some PDF files with might give you some ideas. http://www.misbach.org/pdfcharts/
