How do I start making my family tree?

I want to make my family tree so I can pass it on to my children!

1. you should first chose the kind of tree you want to plant.then you should plant it someplace that's special to you.hope that helped.

3. One of the first things I would do is get some software to help you keep track of everything. The best free software around is from the Mormon Church family tree website. URL is below: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp Look for "Free PAF Family History Software" on the bottom right of the page. You'll be able to go so far from memory, and then you'll have to start to do some digging. How you do that step largely depends on what region you're in (UK, USA, Canada, etc)
