How do I go about willingly paying child support?
I want to be on record as paying child support but I can't find information for dads who WANT to pay it. I know I should call my local family services center but what's involved? Is court neccesary? Paternity test? Basically, what is the process? This is emily's boyfriend. Emily is NOT a father.

- every state is different (slightly) about the guidelines...so check with the links below and find your state. if you go through the courts, they will want a DNA test to prove your the father (some states will not if you were married). if you do it on your own, just keep the canceled checks as proof you've paid it. - You don't need a paternity test if you are willing to sign a certificate of paternity. The simplest thing would be to go to your local Dept. of Social Services, or the equivalent, and open a case. The thing to remember is that any money you give your girlfriend for your child is considered a gift if there is no support order. If youhave a state that does back child support to the point the child was born that money will not be counted
