how to get heirlooms on WoW?

I just hit level 80 on my shaman and i want to get heirlooms that give bonus xp for my new characters so they dont take as long to level. I see people running around with them and i was wondering how i can get them. thanks :D and where to get them, argent tournement?

1. do heroics until you get the correct number of badges. once you get them downgrade them into Heroic badges and buy whichever piece you prefer
