I'm doing a project related to my family's genealogy. Not much is known about my mom's dad's birth parents, but it is generally accepted in my family that his birth mother was French, but no one talks about the birth dad, or his heritage. I've done research and he might have been German or Jewish based on his last name, and whether its spelled on way or another. I'm excited about this find, but I kind of don't want to spring a brand new heritage on my mom. Do I tell her and change everything she's known about a quarter of her heritage, or do I keep this interesting fact to myself?
