  1. There are several hundred trees for Mary. If you are trying to connect your family with the British royal family, you will have to do the research. You cannot choose an historical figure and come forward. You must start with your self and go back. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genealogy_of_the_British_Royal_Family
  2. Any famlly tree showing Mary Queen of Scots as a distant ancestor would differ according to whoever was tracing back his or her ancestry. The House of Windsor, for example, traces its ancestry back to Mary Queen of Scots through Sophia, the Electress of Hanover, who was the granddaughter of James I of England (and VI of Scotland). However, if Prince William or Harry wanted to trace his Spencer ancestry back to Mary Queen of Scots, he would need to do it through Charles II and at least three of that king's mistresses. Similarly, both Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, and the Duchess of Cornwall, the former Camilla Parker-Bowles, can also trace her ancestry back to Mary through Charles and an obliging mistress. Below, I have provided a link tracing Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom's descent from Mary Queen of Scots; that's 14 generations.
