Heirloom tomatoes. Anybody know anything about using them?
I've seen them in the grocery stores, but they look kind of gross so I was wondering which are good for what.

- Most heirloom tomatoes are good for putting in tossed salads or slicing and making tomato sandwiches or for making tomato salads with vinaigrette dressing and fresh buffalo mozzarella cheese.
- They look gross to you because they haven't been genetically altered like those perfectly red, round ones. However, they taste much better. Use them for anything you'd use a regular tomato for.
- They are great. There's a reason they are more expensive, it's because they taste better. They are great simply tossed with red onions, balsamic vinegarette and shaved parm cheese. I also like to make a panini with fresh mozz cheese, pesto and the tomatoes. It really is the best grilled cheese ever. If you make thin slices it's great for a party.
