DIARIO DE NOTICIAS - 11/08/2007 THE BLOOD "WOULD NOT BE THE KEY OF THE INVESTIGATION" JM Oliveira The investigations now centre on the parents and friends Is it human or animal blood ? This question has to be clarified during the next week, with the results of the sample sent to the British laboratory. Nevertheless, the PJ "does not wait for clear results". Even if it happens to be Maddie´s, the blood "is not the key of the investigation". Meanwhile, the investigators wait with some "anticipation" for the conclusions, to make sure, if the blood is human, that the DNA has been determined. It is an important point, since it can be compared with the DNA of other suspects, which could lead to an explanation of the crime. The tapping of phone calls and other communications, especially e-mails, besides "other items" found in the meantime, have contributed to the quick acting of the police in the apartment, where Maddie was sleeping with her sister and brother. The pending investigations are concentrated most of all on the parents, other members of the family and friends of the McCanns. "It is an extremely delicate case, since it is about a child disappearance. That is the reason why we always had the parents in mind", stated Olegario de Sousa yesterday, adding the police’s official version : " we had non formal meetings, informing of the new developments". Meanwhile, the researches for finding the girls body or remains of it have stopped, after the dogs and their owners having left back to their country on last Thursday. But other dogs could come again to the Algarve, if necessary. On the other side, Robert Murat, the only official suspect of the abduction of Maddie, waits for the Public Ministry to be freed at any time. "He is calm, and waits as patiently as possible to be declared innocent" stated his lawyer Francisco Pagarete. But he has "no idea" of when it could happen. For the record, Robert Murat has been constituted as an "arguido" after the first researches achieved at his mothers home (and family cars) in PdL, on May 14th. The fact that he has not been prosecuted might be the PJ wanted to use him as a kind of "security" in the investigations. The long inquiries he has been subjected to with three friends of the McCanns in the Criminal Investigation Department (DIC) at Portimão led to nothing. Murat will be considered a witness. The police only issued a statement, according to team McCann, they cannot issue any statement in Portugal, their law forbids it. Not just me Mysterious, and I am just wanting to pass on the Portuguese stuff I pick up, for a bit of "balance" maybe, I try not to comment on it too much thoough.

- They are worse than the media over here. Its a load of rubbish, the police issued a statement on Thursday saying in no way are the parents under suspicion. The police have majorly bungled and can't cover it up any more, now the british police are involved they are looking more and more stupid. The apartment has been let out to more people since early June,it could be anyones blood. If all those people(parents and friends) were involved in Maddies dissapearance one of them would have cracked before now Having said all that,I think think something strange is going on ,but what?
- Would someone please provide some answers! I cant stand this, its so saddening and furiating. This is so confusing!
- And so rightly the parents and their friends should be thoroughly investigated by the police. I still say there is something not right about them all.
- If Olegario de Sousa really has said that they why hasn't the British Press reported it? If this statement is true it beggars belief the our Press has ignored it.
- Why is everyone getting so involved in this. The police have a difficult job on their hands. I bet every eventuality has been investigated. Every time someone poses a question everyone jumps on the bandwagon so to speak. People like Jack here are giving conflicting news on the case. Why is it everyone always say "I never believe what I read in the newspapers" yet on here they do. I'm in no way saying what happened wasn't wrong, but I'll reserve judgement until I'm told. I can at least think for myself.
- The Portuguese police may have tried to create a smokescreen as the chief suspects all along may have been the McCann's and their friends. Police worldwide often use this as a tactic especially when there is a possibly dead body to be concealed or disposed of. The forensics in the apartment may not be as important as the movements, conversations, emails and any forensics from vehicle's used after the crime was committed. Andy
- Very, very interesting. I note a lot of the "blame the abductor" types have gone very quiet over the last few days...coincidence? I think not. I thought this article, also in the Daily Mail, was very interesting. While it is very carefully written to NOT be an attack on the McCann's, at least it clears up the "20 feet" rubbish, doesn't it? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=474428&in_page_id=1811 Apparently the distance is actuially 120 METRES, which by my calculations makes about 370 feet. (roughly, I'm not brilliant at maths!) Maybe the tide is beginning to turn in this case.
- You shouldn't give too much credit to the news in the English Newspapers and even some TV channels. I read / watch both ( Portuguese and English) and it's quite clear that the English select information. It's obvious they leave out what they don't like or anything that suggests the McCanns involvement in this case.
- You sure have a good deal of information for us today. You will out do dave s. lol They all have been acting strange since day one. Why doesn't someone just own up to the truth. It would make it easier on everyone and save wasting police time and costs.
