How do I open my scrapbook binding?

I have a Marcella by Kay scrapbook that is 8.5 X 8.5 and have found the screws underneath the strip but cannot seem to successfully unscrew, or even loosen the 2 screws. It seems that the screws simply rotate instead of unscrewing as they ought. Has anyone else successfully conquered this problem?

1. The only thing that comes to mind is to put the head of the screw on your finger while trying to loosen it, to see if that gives it enough friction to work for you. Good luck.
2. Haven't used Marcella by Kay, only Close To My Heart which are easy to unscrew by hand, but they sound similar. Does one side of the post have a slit or + like the head of a screw? Try using a screw driver or penny to hold that end still while you turn the other end. Or, one hand on each end of the post. Righty tighty, lefty loosey. ;-)
