How do I create a family tree ?

I want to start of the family tree dating back to Mt great gradparenst and their children and their children-children.

1. Well you just have to make that first step of gathering information. You should ask questions of your family members and go through your family's documents. Also, try some internet research to see what you can dig up on your people.
2. Start asking questions to anyone who is still alive. Get correct spelling of names and speak to all family members, church members that many know of family, other close friends. Check family bibles, birth certificates, baptism records. If u live in the same city where your family is from go to the city's court house. They have records on marriages, divorces, property sales. U can also try research on the computer. I would rather a paper trail because u can get more information maybe on cousins and other relatives to link together. Some places may have had damage to original buildings but most have original documents and maybe even on the computer where it will be easier to check .Also if u r not from original city then take a trip there for research. Cannot go there call and explain your situation. The person there should be able to help u and may even know your family. Don't give up and good luck with it.
3. Ask the old people before they die.
