What is a good family tree maker /genealogy that you can link siblings with people?
I have tried Family Tree Maker 2008 but I couldn't add/link a brother or sister to a family member so I am doing this genealogy project and I need a software to add siblings to family members. All help is appreciated.

- No matter how fancy and expensive they make these software programs, PAF still blows them all away. It's also the only one that is completely compatible with all of the others. So you can not only link your siblings, but you can also share your files with other people without any hassles. Here's the link...and it's completely free from the Mormon Church: http://www.ldscatalog.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10151&productId=47670&langId=-1&cg1=14000&cg2=&cg3=&cg4=&cg5=&sortId=1&sortOr=1&retURLtext=Back%20to%20'Software%20Downloads'&retURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ldscatalog.com%2Fwebapp%2Fwcs%2Fstores%2Fservlet%2FCategoryDisplay%3FcatalogId%3D10151%26amp%3BstoreId%3D10151%26amp%3BcategoryId%3D14000%26amp%3BlangId%3D-1%26amp%3Bcg1%3D%26amp%3Bcg2%3D%26amp%3Bcg3%3D%26amp%3Bcg4%3D%26amp%3Bcg5%3D%26pageId%3D1%26pageCt%3D15%26sortId%3D1%26sortOr%3D1
- sorry, your question doesn't make sense, unless you have not explained something. Any program allows you to add a child to a father and mother. If there are already children of this couple, the addition will be a sibling. Why are you trying to add a sibling to a person? If the child comes from only ONE PARENT, then it won't show as a sibling to children from that couple, on a family group sheet. It would appear as a child of a different couple. That is strictly on a family group sheet format. If you print a desc. chart from (say) mom's grandparents, and the child isn't HER child, it won't show as a desc (or sibling). If the child is dad's child (for example) and the desc. chart comes down from HIS ancestor (or him), the chart shows both his partners (moms to his kids), and the children from each marriage. In fact, it does not have to be a marriage, you can still add a child with another person, even if no marriage happened. The children will in fact, be 1/2 siblings, or perhaps step siblings. In technical terms for programming purposes, you work with defining a child by the parents. There can't be a sibling relationship without some connection back to the parent. That is standard. By the way, I am with G's mom regarding PAF. It has less bells/whistles than other programs. YOU tell it who the persons are, it doesn't figure it out for you. I prefer simple programs that do basic storage (and yes, it does allow pictures, so forth). I don't want a program that does the thinking for me.
- Family Tree Maker 2008 blew it big time!!! I returned it and went back to FTM 2006 V.16. They have released an update but it is still nowhere as good as the older version. Send it back if you havent had it very long and still have your receipt. Wendy is correct. Any program allows you to have more than one child attached to the parents. If it was a print problem that wouldn't let you show them on the same tree that is quite possible. FTM 2008 had major report producing.problems which is why they have done the update.
