I have the program Family Tree Builder. How can I put one family tree into another?
I have a family tree complete for me. I'm making one for my sister, but I don't want to have to enter all 200 individual people again. Is there any way that I can just take all the ancestors on my tree and put them on hers?

- Absolutely. Use the gedcom option, which is a way to transfer information. It will "export" (send out) then you "import" (bring in). It WILL allow you to choose which persons you need to work with. You also can use this if you ever decide you want to use a different genealogy program. Gedcom is the standard "language". You can also SAVE a copy of your file with another name, and if just a few names different... delete those and insert hers. Word of caution... if you get a gedcom from someone else... be very careful to keep the files separate. If bringing in a file from elsewhere, you NEED to keep clear where your info originated. I have to chuckle.. most people have thousands of persons in their files.
- Be sure to keep a backup of your original in case anything goes wrong. But you can open up your original file, and import the other one in GEDCOM format. Then, the program should take you through a "merge" system so that you can merge any individuals that are in both records. Good luck, Dave -- Create a genealogy website at http://www.familypulse.org
