What should I do with all the wedding cards I received? Any ideas on alternative uses/scrapbook ideas?

I want to save the wedding cards we received but I don't know what to do with them! I do not just want to stick them in a box or on a scrapbook page...ideas????

  1. put them in a box and save them to start the celebration bonfire when your divorce settlement is finalized.
  2. You can make an accordian book out of them by attaching the envelopes together (one flap attached to the bottom of another envelope). That way, you can store them in the envelopes they came in (or put them in envelopes all the same size so it's uniform). At either end, add extra envelopes for a front and back cover and decorate them. add a ribbon so you can tie the book up in a little bundle. Also, you can decorate a new paint can (they sell them at hardware stores in the paint areas) and make a wedding time capsule. Put the cards and other memorabilia in and on your first anniversay (and every other of all the many anniversaries you will have together) open it up. Every year, add a little something new to the time capsule to reminise about at your next anniversary. I don't have the envelope book as an online tutorial yet but I do have the paint can online. E-mail me if you'd like more information on the envelope book and see my website below for the time capsule/gift can directions. Happy Crafting!
  3. You could use clear contact paper, and make them into placemats.
  4. Make a collage of the cards and frame it to hang in an entry way or boudoir. Shadow boxes of all the cards in the background to display the cake topper or flowers form the wedding can kill two birds with one stone. Buy a good size frame you like, Cut wood and assemble a rectangle the size of the lip on the frame you see on the back, Paint it white inside and match the frame outside color. buy two pieces of foam core board cut one the inside dimension of the wood frame, the second, the sized of the fram perimeter. Cover the smaller with some of your wedding lace or satin (you can stitch it to the board) apply cards, charms, flowers, etc. Attach second piece of foam core to the back and attach to the wood frame Set your topper or other momentos on the wood box and apply the frame. HAngers can be purchased in hardware department or store to hang or stand it on an end table.
  5. Get a shadow box to display them in. Decoupage them onto a frame or a box. Lie them flat on a table top & cover with glass.
  6. The ideas for saving them are good, but if you have some time on your hands and a sewing machine, you can transform them into a very beautiful keepsake. A lady my grandmother knew made garlands for Christmas trees out of greeting cards. Here's how to do it: 1. Take the fronts of the cards off of the backs. 2. Use a 1.25-1.5" circle punch (find them in the scrapbooking dept) to cut as many circles out of each card as possible. 3. Break out the sewing machine and "chain" them together by sewing them in a continuous strand, edge to edge. If you have a particularly nice design, you can cut it out larger and put one at each end of the garland.
  7. If you have a wedding scrapbook, you could add a pocket page to the back and put them all in there. I have done this before. That way the whole card is together, and everytime you pick up that book, you will probably pull them out and go through them.
